The land
The garden, the greenhouse and the woods
Every room goes outside every day. The land is where much of the science, math and art begins.

The garden beds
Each room tends its own raised bed. Children plan the rows, measure the plots, weigh the harvest and keep a record of what grew.
Planted in spring, put to bed in fall
Harvest shared at lunch and at the stand

The greenhouse
Seedlings start here while snow is still on the ground. The adolescent program runs the bench, and younger children visit to transplant.
Seeds sown in late winter
Watering rota kept by each room

The field and the trail
A mown field for games and mapping, and a trail along the tree line for nature journals, walks and the occasional sled when it snows.
A guide walks with each group
A first-aid kit goes on every walk
Through the year
What the land asks in each season
In the mountains the seasons are long and distinct, and the work follows them.
Spring
Beds turned and seeds sown, with a garden day for families.
Summer
Weeding, watering and the first harvest at the stand.
Fall
Harvest, drying and saving seed, then putting the beds to bed.
Winter
Seedlings in the greenhouse, tools oiled in the workshop and, with luck, snow on the field.
Walk the land with us
Open houses end with a walk to the greenhouse and along the trail.
