A day at school
From the door to the closing meeting
The times are the same in every room, so a child always knows what comes next.
- 7:45 a.m.
Step 1: Early arrival
For families who need it, a quiet start with a guide, a book and a snack.
- 8:30 a.m.
Step 2: Greeting at the door
A guide greets each child by name. Coats and boots go on the hooks, and indoor shoes go on.
- 8:45 a.m.
Step 3: The work cycle
About three quiet hours. Children choose their work from the shelf, guides give small lessons, and nobody is called away mid-task.
- 11:45 a.m.
Step 4: Lunch
Children set the table, eat together and clear up. Families send lunch from home.
- 12:30 p.m.
Step 5: Outdoors and afternoon studies
Time on the land in all but the worst weather, then art, music, the garden and the workshop.
- 2:30 p.m.
Step 6: Closing meeting and pickup
The room tidies together and the day ends with a short meeting. Extended days go on until 5:15 p.m.
The rooms
Where the work happens
Each room has low shelves, round and long tables, a rug for lessons and a window onto the trees. There are no rows of desks and no bell.
Shelves arranged by subject, from the simplest material to the next
A kitchen room for lunch, baking and washing up
A workshop for the adolescent program, open to the upper rooms by turns

Spend a morning with us
An observation morning shows the day as it happens. Children are welcome to come along.
